Review on Day 2
29/10/13
Heyyyy!! x
Today me and Zara picked up the camera's from college (Woop!) and took a bus to Piccadilly circus to start shooting. Today i felt was like the beginning of actually grafting and getting these shots for the music video, i think it was because we finally had the Camera out and was able to take it home. I love Piccadilly circus, i know i live in London but i love going there just to be there, its Piccadilly Circus!. We were doing really well at the beginning, getting really interesting base tracks and different types of shots but I must admit, I did start to get annoyed like halfway through when members of the public were walking past and looking directly into the lens of the camera, I cant really say much about that though because i did sort of expect it, whenever i see a big camera out on the street I often try and get in the view of the lens to wave and say 'Hi Mum' so i cant really complain. After shooting outside by the lights and in alleyways that we found, we went inside to where the underground dancers were. Getting clips of dances was one of my initial ideas but were kind of uncertain on the idea as we dont know where the clips will fit in, but going along the phrase 'Shoot more than you need" we decided to go and get shots of the dancers anyway. Overall this was again another good day of shooting, my initiative was on full blast and hopefully the next time we shoot i will have the same succesful verdict.
Peace Out, Christelle xx
Shooting: Day 2

Picadilly Circus
On Tuesday the 29th October me and Zara collected the camera from college and decided to go and shoot some clips in picadilly as it was only one bus away from college.
In Picadilly we got a couple of Base tracks in different locations and even got some shots of the freestyle dancers that we saw dancing at the trocadero underground.

Shooting Experience Day One
Hello Everyone. Shooting day one was a fun experience, at first I was excited to be the rapper I imagined it would be a lot of fun and I quite easy but I soon found that it's quite difficult trying to take yourself seriously and open packed locations such as Camden can make it very nerve racking. Having said that Christelle was a great director and helped all the way through! Zara was also a great co-star and shared my nerves which made me feel a little more settled but by the time we finished filming I was quite proud of myself as well as my whole group- we make a great team :) I think Camden was a great location considering our pop/r and b genre and it is a place which really encapsulates London's youth/urban vibe. Our next location will be South Bank where I'll actually be rapping! See you then-

Review on Day 1
24/10/13
On the 24th we shot in Camden Town. I think that we got a couple of good shots and a lot of different base tracks in different areas. Being the camera woman it was quite difficult and uncomfortable at times, it was my first time using the camera with the Figrig, I had all the bags because we didnt want to leave them on the floor in case somebody ran past and stole them, When both of the girls were in the shot i had to take control of the music and pressing play and then pressing the record button on the camera and putting the figrig in position in time to record the base track. Having all of these responsibilities did drive me a bit bonkers at times but my group helped control the situation and took charge of the music by playing the music through headphones and then putting the phone out of site. Overall it was a good start to filming and i look forward to the following weeks when we will be shooting more
Peace Out, Christelle x
Risk assessment
It is important to assess and explain all the possible risk that could happen during our filming process to avoice injuries...
LOCATIONS - Camden ( lock ), South bank ( skate park ), Brick lane, Hackney Whick, Angel
As most of our filming will be done along roadside or near enough to roads and traffic, it is important to make sure we put our health and safety first by allowing enough space between ourselves and the road to not cause an accident.
Also, some of our locations are popular tourist sites so it is important to not disturb their day by making sure we don't get in their way, whether there walking by or taking pictures.
There will also be cyclist within London as it has become more popular since the introduction of the Borris bikes, so it is also important to not get in their way or disturb them as an accident could be caused to effect ourselves or the cyclist or even damage to their bike which they will have to pay for.
Filming Day 2...
Today we filmed at South bank and Brick Lane. We filmed for the whole day and I was now ready to debut my rap!
It was difficult at time to film in such busy areas, sometimes we had to cut filming because of noise and pedestrians ect. Zara and I had to interact with each other a little more to remind the audience that we area a duo. Once we came to my rap it had reached night time and we had to bring out a dido light so that the clip wasn't too dark. Sometimes it was really embarrassing just because of the people staring and taking time to watch but in the end I just had to block them out and as if my magic it became 10 times easier! All in all it was a fun, I learned had to exaggerate my expressions and body language in order to be more believable and make-sure I spoke loud enough so it would be easier to sync when it came to editing and Wallah my small experience as a rapper was over. Next Zara has to film her boyfriend scene which will be interesting and a nice addition to the video, look forward to it, until next time :)

Skills Development
How I approached Planning
Planning for this years coursework in my eyes was a lot more demanding than planning for last years. Last year we were only making a thriller opening that lasted about 3 minutes so there was only so much that we needed to know, this year on the other hand we were making a music video to a WHOLE song. The difference between these two were, The thriller opening was only a beginning, the start of the film so we didn't have to worry about a middle or an ending, the music video was a full song, a song that had an opening, a climax and a ending so we had to think about everything from where we wanted to the video to start to how we wanted it to end and what will be in the middle.
With this in mind I went all in when it came to the research, I made my own list of extra bloggings that I could do along with following the blogging checklist, I was taking what I learnt in class and thinking about it when i was watching music videos on music channels. One thing that i did differently from last year during the planning stage was keeping my mind open, Last year when I use to blog i would only think about what to blog when i was actually blogging, but this year i'd think about what i could blog about almost all the time. e.g. I would be at my friends house listening to the radio and a Kesha song would be playing and I would instantly think about weather i could Blog about Kesha, and I did.
Overall I feel like this year the planning process was a lot more successful than last year mainly because we had experience in researching and we knew how to do it and what to look for.

How we will incorporate synergy into our products:
One of our main forms of synergy will be our sunglasses. The group XO are a duo and our sunglasses will be out main selling point. These will be seen on the album cover.
Our symbol XO will also be included on the album cover. In terms of merchandise our clothes in the video will also say the letter XO on them.
We will have a magazine advertisement and this will show a sneak peak of our video, the fast cuts and quick transitions won't reveal too much so that curiosity is still held among the audience.
Here are some examples of other artist using synergy in different platforms:
1. Rapper Tyler The Creator sports a hat from his clothing like OF on his latest album cover.
2. In the No Doubt video Settle Down, lead singer Gwen Stefani is seen promoting watch brand iCE and L'oreal Lip Gloss.
iCE Watches
L'oreal Lip Gloss
3. Rapper Drakes friends sport his clothing line OVO in his video for song Headlines.
As see on Drakes shop website...

Target audience
Main target audience - 16 - 24 year old teenage girls
We familiarise most with this audience as we are similar ages and have similar taste in fashion and music.
Also teenage girls are more likely to have experienced a bad - breakup and the negative side of a relationship so will be able to relate to us, our song and its lyrics.
Importantly, young girls are a Major market for all artist as they are most likely to buy albums and make money for the artists.
We familiarise most with this audience as we are similar ages and have similar taste in fashion and music.
- Crop top
- Converse
- Sunglasses
- Jeans
- Beanie
- Lipstick
Also as we are teenage girls, we would be into similar hobbies and activities.
Example of teenage girls who would be an idea audience for us and would buy our music...
Synergy
Colourful Sunglasses
b
The key element that we will be using that will link all our promotional products to our duo group will be colourful sunglasses. Our artist will each have a pair of colourful sunglasses that will represent them. When they perform, go for interviews, do photo shoots and album signings they will always be wearing these sunglasses. Because budget is low and we aren't sure if we could get the extravagant clothing that we see a lot of pop artist wearing these days, we might have to result in wearing normal colourful clothes thats why we chose to have an extravagant colourful synergy item that could easily be linked to our duo.
Plan for our Music Video
Base Tracks
- On a roof
- In a room with Projected Background
- Camden market
- Hackney wick station
- Southbank location 1
-Southbank location 2
-Southbank location 3

- Two shots
- Close up of artist from the front
- Close up of artist from the side
- People freestyle dancing
Other Shots
- Clips of just normal london in different locations
- Clips of the girl and the boy in different locations
- Clips of the artist doing things apart from singing to the camera

Initial Ideas
Idea 1
-The two performers to be a duo
Instead of having two separate artist like the original song we decided to make our two performers a duo, we did this because when we were researching into duo bands we found that the chemistry between them looks really special and enjoyable for both the group and us as the audience. A perfect example of this is the Rizzle Kicks. They have two completely different styles & attitude's yet they are like two peas in a pod. Here is a video that kind of explains what i mean.
Idea 2
- To have a male actor in the video to visually interpret the lyrics of the song
Because the
song is about the artist hating somebody (Maybe a boy or girl) we were thinking
of having that character inside the actual music video. We could have the
artist and the boy arguing, or a clip where the boy who the artist hates shows
the audience why the artist hates him i.e. a clip where they are shopping and
he shoves the bags in to her hands.
Idea 3
If there is any spare time in the music video we could have some free style dancers from the Trocadero underground space to allow us to film them and add some of thoes clips into the final video.
Going location scouting led me to the underground part of trocadero. This area has been transformed into a space where dancers can come and rehears and practice there moves. We felt that this could be a good idea as it would gives the video more variety. Instead of just having the two artist's singing towards the camera it would be a nice thing to add in clips that have no relation to the lyrics as well. This video is kind of like a visual description of what the Trocadero underground is and what it represents.
Why We chose our Song
Jessie J ft Becky G - Excuse My Rude
The song
that we have chosen to do is Jessie J ft Becky G – Excuse my rude. The reason
why we have chosen to do this song is because it is current and we have an
exciting vision of how we can edit to it. Because the song has both a grimey up
beat part and a slow soothing part it will give us an opportunity to use
different styles of editing including slow motion, colouring effects, and other
quick paced/ slow paced editing techniques.
This song
has not got a music video yet but we aim to shoot the video during both day and
night. During the day we aim to shoot in funky areas like brick lane, Camden
market. In the dark we aim to shoot in areas that have a lot of lighting and
colourful lighting like Waterloo Bridge, Kings Cross and Soho.
