Paul Willis (1990)
"Pop stars are, to some extent, symbolic vehicles with which young women understand themselves more fully, even if by doing so they partly shape their personalities to fit the stars alleged preferences"
What this statement is basically saying is that Pop stars, weather they like or not are influences to women, Young girls and women look up too these artist to try and discover who they are, they even change there own personality to become more like the artist that they admire. I kind of agree with this statement, Being 18 years old with an account on nearly every social media website i hear and see a lot of things, some of these things include what people do to get the title of 'The Biggest Fan'.
EXAMPLES
This is a video that i found on youtube. In this video an ordinary looking girl is presenting a tutorial of how to look like Beyonce. This video currently has 1,702,236 views on youtube, This proves that there are people in the world who want to change there appearance and look like beyonce.
Other Audiences
There are also audience members who go to extreme measures to prove their love for the artist that they admire. The first image below is a tattoo of Drake (Young money cash money rapper) name on her forehead, Apparently she did this in response to lyrics from one of his songs 'tat my name on you so i know its real'.
