Laura Mulvey's idea of the Male Gaze

The concept, "Gaze" is how the audience view the people presented. 

For Feminist it can be thought of in 3 ways,

- How men look at women

- How women look at themselves 

- And how women look at other women.

Laura Mulvey believes that at the audience have to "view" the singers from the perspective of a heterosexual male.

Here we see that the biggest pop stars around the world who are looked up to by millions of girls are all seen either naked or half naked in their music videos showing them in a negative light to young girls but a positive light for males who this is aimed at. 

Another example of this is "Wrecking ball" by Miley Cyrus, where she is mainly half clothed or naked in the video, giving the male viewers something more to look at then other viewers such as young girls or women. This is to attract more male audiences and to entertain them more as its suppose to be seen from a male perspective.
